Face recognition is a dedicated process in the human brain. Automatic face recognition is rewarding since an efficient and resilient recognition system is useful in many application areas. Recent face recognition algorithms are still faced with the challenge of recognizing face image under variable environmental constraints. This paper presents a statistical evaluation of the performance of two face recognition algorithms namely, Principal Component Analysis with Singular Value Decomposition (PCA/SVD) and Principal Component Analysis with Singular Value Decomposition using Fast Fourier Transform for preprocessing (FFT-PCA/SVD) on variable facial expressions (Angry, Disgust, Fear, Happy, Sad and Surprise) along with their neutral expressions. We considered 42 individuals from Cohn Kanade Facial Expressions database, Japanese Female Facial Expressions (JAFFE) and a created Ghanaian Face database for recognition runs. Multivariate statistical methods were used in the assessment of the face recognition algorithms. GNU Octave was used to perform all numerical runs and statistical evaluation of the recognition algorithms. The results of the statistical evaluation show that, FFT-PCA/SVD is comparatively consistent (Low variation) and efficient (Higher recognition rate) than PCA/SVD algorithm in the recognition of variable facial expressions. The paper also proposes Fast Fourier Transform as a viable noise removal mechanism that should be adopted during image preprocessing.

In the present paper, extended (G' / G) -expansion method is used to find new precise solutions of nonlinear partial differential equations with the aid of symbolic computation. To test the validity of the algorithm, the fifth order CDG equation has been used. Plentiful traveling wave solutions including; exponential, hyperbolic and trigonometric functions are successfully accomplished by the proposed method with capricious parameters. It is revealed that the proposed method is straightforward, constructive and many nonlinear evolution equations in mathematical physics are solved by this method.
A three level fractional programming problem is presented in this paper with a random rough coefficient in constraints at the first phase of the solution approach and to avoid the complexity of this problem we begin with converting fractional programming problem into linear problem using Charnes & Cooper method, Then interval technique is used to convert the rough nature in constraints into equivalent crisp model. At the final phase, a membership function is constructed to develop a fuzzy model for obtaining a compromised solution of the three level programming problem. Finally results are illustrated by a numerical example.
This paper presents the design and analysis of microchip equipped car number plate integrated with GPS car tracking system. A Microchipped car number plate is a technology where chips are embedded on number plates. The microchip can store data of the car owner, including registration details, chassis number and other necessary road traffic details and the car can be scanned from distance using chip-readers. The information on the plates can be used to quickly pick up vehicles which are on the road illegally. It can also help to eliminate vehicle theft, detect unlicensed and uninsured vehicles, and allow road traffic officer or law enforcement agent to trace and follow any vehicle without the need for this officer’s car to be within miles. UPPAAL is used for the design and analysis of microchip equipped car number plate integrated. The model-checker UPPAAL based on the theory of timed automata and its modelling language offers additional features such as bounded integer variables and urgency. Results of our model show quick synchronisation of data captured from GPS tracking device and chip-readers. We note, however, that many numbers of states are covered in the modelling which caused delays in early termination and reachability analysis of the model as potential limitation of our proposed system.
In this paper, the solution of mixed integral equation (MIE) of the first and second kind in time and position is discussed and obtained in the space L2[-1,1]x C[o,T],T < 1. The kernel of position is established in the logarithmic form, while the kernels of time are continuous and positive functions in C[0,T]. A numerical method is used to obtain a linear system of Fredholm integral equations (SFIEs). In addition, the solution FIE of the second kind, with singular kernel, is solved, using Legendre polynomials. Moreover, Orthogonal polynomials methods are used to obtain the solution of singular FIE of the first kind.
Web intelligence can be considered as a subset of Artificial Intelligence. It uses existing data in web to produce new data, knowledge and wisdom to support decision making and new predictions for web users. Artificial Intelligence is ever changing and evolving field of computer science and it is extensively used in wide array of web based business applications. Although it is used substantially in web based systems in developed countries, it is not examined whether it is being substantially used in Sri Lanka. Every Sri Lankan citizen depends on Public Service more or less throughout his/ her life time and at least more than 3 times: at birth, marriage and death. So providing most of these services to its citizen, Sri Lankan Government uses more or less of its country web portal. This paper presents a model to evaluate web intelligence capability based on weight to key functionalities with respect to web intelligence. The government websites were checked by the proposed criteria to show the potential of using web intelligent technology to provide website based services.
The result indicates that the use of web intelligence techniques openly and publicly to provide web based services through government web portal to its citizens is not satisfactory. It also indicates that lack of using the technologies pertaining to web intelligence in the public service web hinders the most of the advantages that citizen and government can gain from such technological involvement.
